The figure shows the steps for creating a change plan. There are six basic steps for creating a change plan.

The picture contains six vertical boxes, one to represent each step to be performed. Each box contains a label that describes the step and has an arrow that points to the next step. In cases where more than one step can be performed next, a separate arrow points to each possible next step.

The general flow of steps in the picture is from top to bottom. The steps are:

  1. Create the plan.
  2. Define change requests for the plan.
  3. Select a destination database.
  4. Generate a script for the destination database.
  5. View the impact and script. After this step, you can optionally define more change requests instead of proceeding to the next step.
  6. Execute the script. After this step, you can generate a script for another destination database or you can define more change requests.

The rest of the chapter describes these steps in more detail.
